American Clay workshop: The main offering is a full-day workshop which covers both theory and hands-on practice.

In the Fundamentals Workshop you will learn everything you need to know about applying American Clay earth plaster. You'll be ready to plaster small or large projects.

In the Artistic Workshop you will learn how to create artistic effect with the plaster through different application techniques, as well as different Compression techniques.

Please note: the Artistic Workshop is ONLY for people that took the Fundamental Workshop. It is done in smaller groups, with much more one-on-one attention from Orit.

The theory portions will cover: American Clay Earth Plaster: general background, ingredients, different products. How to mix pigments, wall preparation, primer(s), second coat, sealers, and repair.

The hands-on practice time will include:
  • mixing a bucket of Loma (the 'rough finish' plaster)
  • application of first coat onto walls, including inside and outside corners
  • application of second coat (both Loma and Porcelina)
  • different application techniques
  • application of different sealers
  • touch up/repair
  • many tips which cannot be found on any website


    • In some groups (depending on interest) some business elements will be taught, such as:
  • how to bid an American Clay job
  • what is the best way to write a contract
  • how to market American Clay to your clients.


    • Please bring:
  • pencil/pen
  • work clothes
  • stainless steel trowel
  • hawk (plaster tray)


    • PLEASE bring your own lunch! There will be a short lunch break around midday.

    A booklet with workshop outline will be handed out for you to keep, with lots of empty page space for you to write in.
